SABIAN was founded in late 1981, when one of the world's great names in cymbal making, Bob 'Sabian' decided drummers deserve better cymbals. Not happy with the quality, sound and relevance of cymbals made at that time, he launched SABIAN. Located in the small eastern Canadian village of Meductic, New Brunswick, SABIAN - most notably The Vault, where cymbals are designed - has since become the global center for cymbal and sound innovation. Our ongoing program of discovery and design means today's drummers and percussionist have a larger-than-ever selection of interesting and innovative cymbals to choose from, with models ranging from vintage to modern, from highly personalized to whatever you need. It was in the Ottoman Empire, in the year 1623, when an alchemist named Avedis Zildjian first discovered a method of fusing copper, tin and silver to create unique musical instruments. The secret method for blending metals survives to carry the celebrated “Zildjian Sound" into the present day and beyond. The Zildjian brand stands for more than expertise and a rich heritage of high quality craftsmanship. Its essence is found in every thread of the drumming community, weaving together students, teachers, pros, old, young, and everyone in between. From Zildjian's Website. For over 40 years, Vic Firth the musician has made it his priority in design and manufacturing to elevate and then continue to improve the status quo for drummers' tools. Throughout the years as he has raised the bar, other brands have improved as well -- giving the drummer many options from which to choose, but also creating confusion with so many claims and opposing
opinions on how to manufacture the best drumstick. At Vic Firth, they are committed to upholding the values that have made them the #1 stick and mallet company in the world. From Vic Firth's website. We carry a spectrum of Vic Firth sticks and mallets at First Note Music. There's always a practice pad next to our stick display ready and waiting for you try out your perfect pair.

Founded in 1957 by Herb Brochstein; drum teacher and drum shop owner. First to introduce Japanese Shira Kashi white oak into the American market, and the only company to successfully market oak sticks in the United States, although others have tried. Pro-Mark received its first “official” endorsement, unsolicited, from Billy Gladstone, a legendary drummer and drum designer/builder. Pro-Mark uses only unendangered wood in the manufacturing of its sticks and mallets. The harvesting of oak from Japan is carefully controlled, and replenishment of the forest is one of our top concerns. Each tree is between 60-120 years old before it is cut. American hickory and maple both grow faster than they are harvested, so there is no danger of running out. Pro-Mark products are exported to over 100 countries, and can be found in virtually every music store in the world. From Pro-Mark's Website. Pro-Mark sticks and mallets are always in-stock at First Note Music and ready for you to try!
