The Most Qualified Techs, The Best Service in Town
Here at First Note Music, our technicians have decades of experience repairing nearly every type of instrument. Michael Wenzlaff, the owner and lead tech, has a rich history of instrument repair techniques, tricks and fixes he uses on a daily basis to bring even the most neglected instruments to working order. Don Casamassa, our guitar & strings tech, has years of Luthier experience to draw upon when considering a repair for violins, banjos and guitars alike.
Mike and Don work hard to ensure your instrument plays in the best condition possible. Estimates for major repairs are always free and can be done, in many cases, on the spot. Instruments must be present for an estimate to be given on any major repair work.
PLEASE NOTE: If you require an on-the-spot estimate, you should call ahead to ensure Mike is in-store.
Turn around time for minor repairs is usually 2-4 business days. Major repair work may take longer.
The following are descriptions and prices of our very basic repair and cleaning services.*
Woodwind Instruments**
- $45 Flutes & Clarinets
- $65 Alto & Tenor Saxophones and Oboes
Services inclues:
Minor repairs including, but not limited to, combinations of pads, corks and bent keys (usually no more than two pads and one cork). Adjustment and regulation after any repair work. Our techs ensure all instrument are working properly by play-testing them upon completion.
Brass Instruments***
- $55 Trumpets & Basic Trombones
- $65 Single French Horns, Baritones, Tubas & Rotary Trombones
Service includes:
Minor repairs including, but not limited to, small dent-work, basic valve and slide work. Flush and clean in the UltraSonic Cleaner includes cork replacements on water keys and valve felts. Our techs ensure all instrument are working properly by play-testing them upon completion.
Guitars, Violins & Other Fretted Instruments
Fretted instrument repairs can sometimes be tricky. Because of that, most instruments require an in-store estimate. There are some basic prices you can read about below. As of January 1, 2010, we no longer re-hair bows.
If you are using a standard fiberglass bow, many times the cost to re-hair meets or exceeds the price to purchase a new bow. If you are using a high-quality composite or wood bow, we will be happy to recommend a repair shop that will re-hair your bow.
The prices below reflect servicing only. Replacement strings are NOT included in these prices. There is an additional $5 charge if you have an electric guitar with a Flloyd Rose System.
